Recognition for Fundraisers
Year 9 pupils Harry Shaddick and Jack Robinson recently received awards from the Encephalitis Society in recognition of their fundraising efforts. The boys took the initiative in raising money in memory of their Design Technology teacher, Olaf Rinvolucri, who died last February after contracting encephalitis. They each ran, kayaked then cycled in a triathlon of their own design, supported along the way by their parents. Firstly they ran the 3½ miles from their homes in Braunton to Crow Point, then kayaked across the estuary to Bideford, which added another 5 miles. Lastly, they switched to bicycles and travelled back the 15 miles to Braunton with pedal power.
Between them, the two boys raised £247.50, a brilliant effort. The boys should be very proud of themselves; we at school are very proud of them.
