Presentation Evening - celebrating leavers' achievements

Posted: 2nd December 2015

Former pupils, their parents, staff and governers gathered at the Barnstaple Hotel on Thursday 26th November for the annual presentation of awards and prizes. Alison Jenkins, a former pupil who is now Head of Human Resources in a multi national corporation, spoke to the pupils about her career and how she got to land such an exciting job which takes her all over the world. She also presented all the trophies and GCSE certificates to our leavers.

Prizes are awarded annually in all academic subjects, and there are also many other presentations for service to the school and community, outstanding overall achievement, greatest progress, great endeavour in the face of adversity and more. A new award was presented this year in honour of Olaf Rinvolucri, our former Head of Technology, who tragically passed away earlier this year. The trophy is for Innovation in Technology and was presented in this, its inaugural year, by Olaf's wife, Lucy. Mr Holmes gave a moving speech about the immense influence Mr Rinvolucri had on the department and all the pupils who learnt from him, and how he has been sorely missed at school. The recipient of the trophy was Jade Whattingham, pictured here with Lucy Rinvolucri and Mr Holmes.
